Steve Dennis born in Windsor and raised in Toronto is a Civil Engineer with broad humanitarian experience.
Steve studied civil engineering at the University of Toronto and graduated in 1999. He has worked at Halsall Associates doing building science engineering. His interest in humanitarian work started in Sri Lanka with MSF as a logistician and administrator.
His travels have included visiting and working in Guatemala, Europe and east Africa.
His overseas volunteering experience with MSF has included the following:
2002-3 (8 months) Mallavi and Puthukkudiyiruppu, Sri Lanka – Log/Admin
2003-4 (12 months) Lankien and Pieri, South Sudan – All around Log
2005 (6 months) Galcayo, Somalia – PC
2006 (11 months) Danane, Ivory Coast – PC
2007 (3 months) Kilinochchi, Sri Lanka – Emergency Team PC/Log
2007 (2 months) Various locations, Chad - – Emergency Team Watsan Officer
2008 (6 months) Kismayo and Mogadishu, Somalia – Emergency Team PC
2009 (6 weeks) Vavuniya, Sri Lanka - Logco
Through that time, his writings have been printed in various MSF newsletters and websites, as well as the Globe and Mail. Steve is currently continuing studies with a master’s degree in international relations at the Munk Centre, University of Toronto
