I am from Dunvegan, Cape Breton Island, and now live in Ottawa where I work as a nurse practitioner at a community health centre. I have been on two missions with MSF: Angola (2004-05) where MSF assisted with the rehabilitation of a health centre in northern Angola and last spring I worked with the emergency response to a meningitis outbreak in northern Nigeria.
It was the tour of the Refugee Camp in the Heart of the City when it last came to Ottawa that sparked my interest in working with MSF. I hope this year’s tour will ignite similar sparks in many others to do this important work.
